Joseph Goebbels in School
Due to Goebbels "club foot" condition, Goebbels spent a majority of his time reading and doing other academic studies. In school, Goebbels described one of his teachers, Christian Voss, as his "first friend in life."
Contrary to his belief in anti-Semitism, most of Goebbels preferred teachers were actually Jewish.
In school, Goebbels did very well, allowing him to go to the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität Heidelberg. While at the university he had many relationships with women, although most of them ended very poorly.

Goebbels's Depression
“I’m so despondent about everything. Everything goes totally wrong. There is no escape from this hole here I feel drained so far I still haven’t found a real purpose in life. Sometimes I’m so afraid to get out of bed in the morning, there is nothing to get up for.”

“My life lacks any meaning. I’m meandering aimlessly lost in the universe. Lack of money is oppressive. What a terrible fate! Why bother to read these wretched newspapers, it just makes you feel more stupid. Politics is killing me.

In October of 1920, due to his great depression and as well as a debt he had, Goebbels decided it would be best to commit suicide. He then wrote his will, although when his father heard of this, he told him that he would allow Joseph to borrow money so he could finish his studies. After this, he drew from his threat of committing suicide. At this time though, Hitler was just coming to power because of the Great Depression.

A Failed Author
After withdrawing from his threats, Joseph decided to write poems, plays, and novels, although none of which were published. Goebbels blamed this on the works of Jewish people. Eventually, Goebbels joined forces with Gregor and Otto Strasser to establish the Berlin Arbeiter Zeitung. The Stasser's were against Hitler, although Joseph left them to join forces with Adolf.
A Father and Husband
Eventually, Goebbels would marry Magda Goebbels, which he stayed with until they both commented suicide on May 1, 1945. Before they took there own lives, they killed their six children by putting cyanide capsules in there mouths.
"God keep this woman for me. I can not live without her."
